Proposed dismantle of Ivybridge Neighbourhood Team

A meeting between Hounslow Homes/Hounslow Council and of the URA committee was held on Thursday.
The purpose of the meeting was for Hounslow Homes to explain to the residents association exactly what these proposals entail.
Hounslow Homes made it plain that the Langdale Centre will continue to operate but without the present Ivybridge Team. These would be replaced by individual specialist teams throughout the borough as it used to be prior to the present set up.
Although  Hounslow Homes say this would not affect the residents of Ivybridge, many members of the URA feel that this move is a step backwards.
At present this is just a proposal and we will  keep you informed of progress

Digital TV aerials - Cowboy workmanship ?

We was surprised to see that installation in towerblocks where aerial lead has to travel along the length of the hallway to the living room - this is boxed in by means  a plastic trunking.
This trunking is only held up by double sided tape and in some cases is already starting to fall down.

Re: Tower block stagnant water reported 11th Dec 2011

The report of the stagnant water in the chute room of 1st floor tower block -  reported 11th december 2011. This is caused by a blockage in a downpipe and although reported over 6 months ago
has still not been rectified.

URA Residents association

The URA now has a new committee and a revised constitution.
We wish the new committee success and take this time to thank the outgoing committee for all the work they carried out.
Lets hope the new committee pulls together to ensure a residents association we can all be proud of on Ivybridge.

Refurbished childrens playground rear of Mogden Lane.

Yesterday saw the official opening of the refurbished playground, However only residents around this area was informed of this. When as chair of the URA, Ron Robinson planned this update by bidding for funding for this project it was as a project for the whole estate. However, HH's saw this as a park only for residents local to this park and therefore only those local were informed.

Please be informed that this park is for use of the Whole of the estate.

Ball Park rear of Langdale Centre.

Those of you living around the area of this ball park will have noticed that the locking of this park at night has ceased. This is because that although we believe it being the responsibility of Hounslow Homes, they refused to do this, even though prior to Hounslow Homes this was done by Hounslow Council.
However, an agreement was made with HH's that the residents association would carry out this act in return for payment by HH's into the Residents association bank account to help fund the residents association.
To date HH's has failed to honor this agreement and not made this payment. Hence the Residents association has now stopped locking this park at night.

Back to the 1980's

Is ivybridge going back to the 1980's?
Those who lived on the estate back in the 80's will remember glue and gas sniffing on the staircases, especially in towerblocks. Well, with all the so called security on the estate it would appear that smoking of drugs have taken the place of glue and gas and is rife on the estate. So much for security.

Latest News regarding URA residents association

It was decided at a recent meeting o the URA, to dissolve the current URA in its present form and to reform the association with a modified constitution with a new committee. This decision was taken as a last resort to save your Residents association.
A EGM/AGM has been called for Thursday 29th March at 7pm at the Bridgelink centre for this purpose.
Residents are urged to attend this important meeting and maybe stand for election to the Executive and General committee.

Lack of support for the United Residents Association for Ivybridge - URA

It has been noticed that there has been a lack of interest in the URA over the past year with very poor attendance to the AGM, Public meetings and also the URA committee meetings.
As residents your comments as to why this may be would be very much appreciated.

Security in Towerblocks

On the last 6 monthly estate inspection covering Windermere House in September 2011 - it was reported that the centre security door was not closing properly unless pulled closed which is not easy if you are carrying lots of shopping or have a pushchair or pram. Also it was reported that the rear fire exit door was being jammed open by some residents jamming up the lock mechanism.  Since then neither of these issues have been rectified. Yet another failure of Hounslow Homes.

This problem originally reported on 11th December 2012 has still not been resolved. Although mopped up on occasions stagnant water is still laying there most of the time. Is this the sort of service we are expected to receive from Hounslow Homes. Surely this is a public health matter.
